In Person sessions are available on Wednesdays at Market Square in downtown Victoria, BC
The first counselling session is 65 minutes. This extended session gives us an opportunity to dive deeper into your relevant mental health history and current situation.
Subsequent sessions are 55 minutes, although some sessions may be longer or shorter depending on your needs and preferences if arranged in advance.
While it's great that you feel in control of your problems, counselling isn't solely for crisis situations. It can offer benefits far beyond crisis management, such as personal growth, enhanced self-awareness, stress management skills, improved relationships, and a preventative approach to mental health. Consider counselling as a tool to further your well-being and develop coping strategies, especially during life transitions or for ongoing self-improvement. Ultimately, the decision should align with your personal goals and needs, and seeking counselling doesn't imply a lack of control but rather a proactive step toward a healthier and more fulfilling life.
Our first session is mostly to get to know each other and establish connection and trust as those are the most significant factors in the therapy process for success. As humans, we are hardwired for connection. Healing doesn't happen in a vacuum - it happens through safe connection, and the safety created through good therapy can be one of the most healing relationships. It's completely normal to feel nervous before a first counselling session. My goal is to make you feel as welcome and comfortable as possible.
You can gauge the effectiveness of counselling in several ways:
Progress in counselling may not always be linear and is an ongoing process, and it's normal to experience ups and downs.
